Who we are
We invite you to join the Strategic Initiatives and Policy team! The team provides expert support and advice in strategy development, performance accountability, process improvement, policy development, internal communications, correspondence, right-to-information requests, appointments to agencies, boards and commissions, and legislature coordination.
What you will do
Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Policy, you will be responsible for collaborating with subject matter experts to draft response letters or emails on behalf of the department, editing and proofreading content for reports, correspondence and/or internal communications in both official languages and other content creation or support as assigned. This position requires a motivated individual who can work with a high level of independence and can effectively apply their organizational skills to support the department. The duties and responsibilities will include:
- Writing and proofreading correspondence
- Preparing key points for minister briefings
- Copyediting reports, strategies, correspondence, and internal communications
- Preparing reports and dashboards
- Reviewing translated materials for accuracy and terminology
- Working with program experts to develop corporate website content
- Supporting the maintenance of the department's annual calendar and stakeholder list
- Drafting content destined for departmental staff or stakeholders
- Supporting the development of new internal communications channels and supporting materials or messages
- Assisting in coordinating ministerial briefing materials for Federal, Territorial, Provincial / Intergovernmental meetings
- Drafting internal communications materials for the Executive team
- Assisting with policy-related work as determined by the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Policy
- Performing other related duties as required
Work Environment
- Location: Marysville Place, Fredericton
- Office environment: Open office and opportunity for remote style work
- Hours of work: 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday
- Some weekday evenings and weekend work hours may be required

Need to have
- A university degree in Arts, Journalism, Social Sciences, Public Administration or a related field plus a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience OR a post-secondary diploma in Arts, Journalism, Social Sciences, Public Administration or a related field plus a minimum of six (6) years of related work experience
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- Experience in written communications and editing in both English and French
- Ability to use office technology, software and applications
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

- Handling confidential information
- Knowledge of the GNB's Administrative Processes, Practices and Procedures
- Knowledgeable in the machinery of government
- Experience in communications or journalism
Wage
$2,183.00 to $3,053.00 bi-weekly (Pay Band 4)
