We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Portfolio/Program Manager to join our team. As a Portfolio/Program Manager, you will be responsible for delivering complex and high-risk projects and/or portfolios of projects (programs), leading large cross-functional teams to ensure that the business needs and outcomes of the projects are satisfied and aligned with the organization's strategic objectives.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Partners with Scotiabank business lines, in translating their business strategies and complex compliance and regulatory requirements into IT needs/priorities, develops IT project strategy, and technology plans.
  • Maintains and evolves the status of key projects to ensure that their status is accurately depicted and that major issues are receiving the appropriate level of attention
  • Direct accountability for the management and delivery of multiple, large, and complex technology projects while ensuring the business value is maximized and aligned with both business and financial objectives.
  • Establishes, communicates, and maintains Bank policies concerning project management while implements repeatable standards, processes, and templates to support professional project management.
  • Maintains and evolves regular, objective reporting of project status, risks and issues to Senior Management and ensures that projects delivered are executed according to established project management policies, standards, and processes.
  • Oversees and implements a continuous improvement process for all project execution and ensuring satisfactory resolution for critical or timely production issues.
  • Leads the community of project management across the Bank with a cohesive team of high caliber IT individuals with a shared vision to expand the knowledge and use of project management standards.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent/ PMP an asset
  • 7+ years in project management leading enterprise-wide IT projects
  • Proven expertise in managing the business case process from inception to approval
  • Strong understanding of the life cycle development methodologies
  • Strong organizational skills, self-disciplined and a team player
  • Demonstrated strong leadership and people management skills, with ability to influence and orchestrate resources at all levels
  • Spanish language fluency an asset
