As a part of Total Health & Safety team, the Industrial Hygienist Technician will identify, assess and document the hazardous material risks across NB Power assets. The ideal candidate requires a deep understanding of industrial hygiene principles and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of teams and key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

• Plan and perform hazardous material assessments for NB Power assets.
• Analyze the results and communicate results to key stakeholders.
• Provide organizational subject matter support for hazardous material questions and concerns.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• A Diploma in Industrial Hygiene or a science related field of study such as chemistry, biology or environmental science.
• Certificate as an occupational Hygiene Technician or Hazardous Material Specialist.
• Five years of experience executing hazardous material assessments and supporting clients with hazardous material abatement activities, in addition to:

Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Knowledge of use of air sampling pumps and their calibrations.
Knowledge of building construction and pertinent regulations/guidelines considered an asset.
Knowledge of CAD or other drawing tools would be an asset.
Previous experience in industrial hygiene or environmental consulting working independently with key stakeholders and in the field would be an asset


If no candidate is identified who meets the specified criteria for the Senior Industrial Hygienist Technician position above, preference will be given to candidates who meet the following qualifications and will be considered for classification as an Industrial Hygienist Technician.

• A Diploma or Certificate in Industrial Hygiene or a science related field of study such as chemistry, biology or environmental science.
• Two years of experience executing hazardous material assessments, in addition to:

Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Developing knowledge of abatement expectations and providing support to clients.
Ability to work with key stakeholders in the field with little guidance
Knowledge of CAD or other drawing tools would be an asset.
Developing knowledge of building construction and pertinent regulations/guidelines considered an asset.


An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.

An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
