Service New Brunswick is seeking an individual to join the Laundry and Linen Services Branch within Health Services Division as a Maintenance Repairworker 1 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital.
Reporting to the Laundry Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • Performing plant maintenance including the maintenance and repair of equipment (basic plumbing, basic electrical, basic carpentry, install and remove appliances);
  • Maintaining ventilation systems: determining if operating properly and changing filters;
  • Inspecting structures for deterioration/required repairs, for fire and safety hazards and resolves issues;
  • Coordinating and prioritizing work orders;
  • Maintaining inventory (supplies, parts, appliances, etc.);

Related duties may be assigned as necessary for operational requirements.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of high school or GED;
  • Experience at the semi-skilled level in the use of tools and equipment used in industrial mechanical settings;
  • Written and spoken competence in French and English is required.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of safe operating procedures
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others as well as independently.
  • Good attendance record and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • You must be available to work rotating days, evenings, nights, weekend, and Statutory Holidays.
  • Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment.

Hourly Rate: $23.72 - Canadian Union of Public Employees – Local 1190
