The Algorithmic Risk Control (ARC) mandate is to bring transparency to the risks associated with algorithmic trading in TD Securities. This is achieved by taking a leadership role in the accurate, complete, and objective assessment of key algorithmic risks in TD Securities globally through identifying, understanding, and reviewing these risks and associated controls on an ongoing basis.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Reporting to the Senior Algo Risk Manager, Market Risk Control, Toronto, the position will be part of a team providing 2nd line review and challenge of algorithmic risk, working in partnership with the business (1A and 1B), Compliance, Model Validation, and other areas of Risk.

  • Provide effective challenge and ongoing risk monitoring for algorithmic trading risk as defined by the overall algorithmic trading risk management framework.

  • Review, validate, and document control and governance artifacts in accordance with the established standards.

  • Provide support throughout the algo lifecycle involving regular contact with 1A and 1B lines of defence, and implementation of a robust process to capture key risk management 'artifacts', templates, and reporting across algorithmic lifecycle steps.

  • Provide advice across the 2nd line and coordination with other stakeholders (such as Model Validation when algorithms are classified as models, and Compliance in all cases).

  • Facilitate and document committee meetings and working group sessions.

  • Review and approve 'Key Controls' and 2nd LOD governance standards for algorithms.

  • Understand and comply with TD Policies, regulatory and compliance requirements.

  • Demonstrate governance, control, and risk management behaviours in alignment with TD policies and practices.

  • Responsible to ensure that the execution of the function is line with documented procedures specific to your role or business.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Data, Business/Commerce or related field

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term

The candidate should have an understanding of risk management and the role of 2LOD. Strong communication, organization, and technical writing skills with the ability to build relationships across cross functional teams, colleagues, partners, and stakeholders at multiple levels. Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
