Summary

As the Senior Manager of the Bell TV Video Origin, CDN & Network squads, you will be leading a group of technical experts who are responsible for development, delivery, deployment, integration, and operational management of several technology solutions that provide the functions of Video Origin, Video Packaging, Public and Private CDNs, and the underlying Network. The Network squad partners closely with other Bell Network teams, including Core, Access Network, Digital Video Network, Security and Bell Media to ensure that all our customers get the best customer experience. The services and features provided by this domain are critical to Bell's TV evolution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support team members from a technology, people, and process leadership perspective in daily activities and in performance management
  • Manage and maintain capital and operational budgets
  • Support the squads in their DevOps accountabilities, including 24/7 operation of their respective platforms. This means readily accepting service escalations as required to provide additional support to squads for high severity issues.
  • Actively participate in overall TV Portfolio Management, and Scaled Agile type ceremonies to support visibility and progress on key programs
  • Build and deliver clear and influential presentations to peers and senior leadership stakeholders on key programs, including the use of new cloud and AI Ops technologies
  • Provide oversight to program planning activities, keeping on top of the status of new and in-flight initiatives until they are delivered by ensuring work priorities are aligned with delivery of business objectives
  • Proven ability to influence, and foster a collaborative work environment between project sponsors, development, delivery and operations teams to deliver initiatives efficiently, on-time, on-budget and with quality
  • Develop strategic partnerships, negotiate vendor work agreements and manage vendor partners to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery
  • Provide regular coaching to team members to improve their performance, develop an agile mindset in how work gets done (smaller iterative increments, regular check and adjust, continuous improvement with focus on the end-to-end result and not personal silos) and nurture their personal development
  • Assist in understanding the overall priorities to make sure work-priorities within the team's technology areas enable the delivery of business objectives.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, high-performance, and continuous-learning work environment.
  • Continuously develop, understand, evaluate and improve Key Performance indicators across the portfolios
  • Actively participate and lead by example on Post Mortems and Continuous-Improvement activities.
  • Flexibility in responsibilities may be required due to adjustments in team structure
Critical Qualifications
  • Educational Background in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Networking, Networking, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience in Telecommunications, Networking or Video Technology with a minimum of 3 years in a management or leadership role
  • Previous experience working on solutions that are cloud-based (Public or Private).
  • Previous experience with leading a team responsible for technology development, software development, project delivery, and operations.
  • Proven ability to deliver on a portfolio, of a large and complex nature, while leveraging lean agile methodologies.
  • Strong aptitude to recognize opportunities for improvement in the day-to-day work and an appetite to take appropriate actions to drive them forward.
  • Ability to effectively negotiate and positively influence decision-making with business partners to drive change.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex items simply and effectively
  • Workplace culture enthusiast who promotes fun, inclusion, and a continuous-learning environment.
  • Proven strengths in vision leadership, facilitation, and coaching skills
  • Excellent analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and decision-making skills.
  • Previous experience working in a Portfolio Managed and Scaled Agile Framework environment an asset

  • Key Protocols: HTTP, DNS, IP, UDP & TCP, HLS, MPEG-DASH, Smooth Streaming, Multicast, BGP
  • Networks: Juniper, Cisco, F5 Load Balancers, Firewalls
  • Products: FibeTV, FibeTV App, Virgin TV & Satellite TV
Additional Requirements
  • Work hours are Monday - Friday, normal 37.5 hours weeks, 3 days a week in the office
  • Ability to Support for Business Escalations (24x7)
