We are looking for a highly motivated Safety, Quality and Training Leader to join our team in Belledune NB. Reporting to the Director of Operations, we are seeking someone with a strong work ethic, ability to work independently under minimal supervision, a proven safety and quality first focused mindset, and the ability to train and lead other employees.

Job Summary:

The Safety, Quality and Training Leader will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and monitoring of our safety and quality programs. They will also lead employee training. This individual will work closely with other departments to ensure compliance with safety regulations, maintain high-quality standards, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build on our existing safety culture to ensure our number one corporate value of safety is built into everything we do.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs to ensure all applicable aspects of the corporate safety management system are integrated to ensure a world class safe working environment.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and action corrective measures.
  • Coordinate, participate, and facilitate safety training for employees to ensure they are competent to perform their required tasks and follow all safety procedures and protocols.
  • Execute and monitor quality assurance programs and ensure products meet company and industry standards. Action and follow up on corrective measures, as required.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and others to implement corrective actions when safety or quality issues arise.
  • Collect, analyze, and report safety and quality data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and maintain safety and quality documentation, reports, and records.
  • Actively coordinate and participate, as required, with employee training.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, provincial, and federal safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Using root cause analysis, conduct investigations on accidents, incidents, or quality failures and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and encourage employee involvement in safety and quality initiatives.
  • Participate as an active support on the JHSC committee.
  • Work with members of the corporate safety team to continually improve corporate safety culture through program improvements.
  • Be a continuous improvement change agent for safety and quality.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or other certification in Occupational Health and Safety, Quality Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • CRSP, CRST or NSCO designation (preferred)
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis and investigative techniques.
  • Proven experience in a safety and quality coordination role, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of WSNB regulations, and other safety and quality certifications.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments, work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum direction.
  • Experience leading unionized employees.
  • Ability to conduct training sessions and present safety and quality information effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
