DUTIES

Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the successful applicant will assist with the purchasing function within the Faculty of Medicine. Duties include assisting and/or coordinating procurement card purchases for faculty and staff; reconciling procurement card purchases on a monthly basis; placing orders with supply companies; answering enquiries from faculty and staff regarding purchasing procedures; coordinating the tendering process; liaising with Financial and Administrative Services regarding accounts payable issues, purchasing procedures, and other issues or requests as needed; liaising with sales representatives from various suppliers regarding products and supplies; creating or approving purchase orders on Banner Finance pending the determination of the Manger of Finance; answering in-person, telephone, and email enquiries for the department; obtaining approvals (manually and electronically) for expenditures from grant or budget accounts and ensuring that appropriate purchasing procedures are followed; tracking purchase orders to determine if goods have been received; attending meetings; maintaining updated catalogues, literature, and promotional items; arranging pick up and delivery of perishable items; recommending new procedures; providing front office support; and performing other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (1-3 years) in accounting, purchasing, or clerical work; completion of a three-year accounting program; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, and Microsoft Office are required. Knowledge of the Banner Finance System, purchasing policies and procedures, as well as accounts payable principles of the university are assets.

SALARY $49,308 - $57,841 (CUPE Local 1615) CLOSING DATE January 21, 2025
