Manager, Membership & Events Role Description
Basketball Nova Scotia's (BNS) Manager, Membership & Events (MME) is primarily responsible for the organization's club membership oversight as well as the planning and execution of key BNS events and competitions. The MME supports BNS member clubs via seasonal registration processes and is responsible for member communication and support throughout the basketball season. Working closely with BNS staff, the MME also oversees the implementation of all BNS signature events and competitions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Club Membership Registration and Oversight
- Implement & manage the RAMP registration process and system for all BNS membership including financial reconciliation.
- Oversee/assist with club/player registration process.
- Annual participation data upload through Sideline Learning portal.
- Create and implement growth initiatives.
- Expand and support membership benefits.
- Assist with Canada Basketball's Verification Standards Program process.
2. Events & Competition Management
- Oversee the planning and execution of the following key signature events:
- U10 Jamboree
- Provincial Club Championships
- Annual BNS Scotia Showcase Tournament
- Awards & Recognition Event
- The MME, with support from BNS staff, oversees the coordination of each signature event including such elements as: event plan, registration, scheduling, facility & officials' bookings, event website management, volunteer management, promotion, and recognition items.
3. Development Programs
- Registration set up and reporting via RAMP for development and performance programs.
- Program marketing and communication support through RAMP portal.
4. Facility Logistics
- Secure and coordinate facilities/venues requests for BNS events, tournaments, camps, and clinics.
5. Other
- Hire and manage co-operative education students.
- Apply for funding to support student roles
- Work with the BNS bookkeeper on financial reconciliation for membership
- Other duties/tasks as assigned collaboratively with the Executive Director.
Organizational Structure:
The MME reports to and takes direction from the Executive Director.
Qualifications/Experience/Attributes:
- Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Management or Recreation.
- Event planning knowledge and experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong computer skills, proficient in Excel & Canva or equivalent (Photoshop, etc.).
- Knowledge and experience with website content development and management.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Effective time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills.
- Valid criminal record, vulnerable sector & child abuse registry checks.
- ASSET: Experience within a non-profit or volunteer-based sport organization.
- ASSET: Experience in Financial management and reporting
The position is a full-time position. Salary per annum: $60,000-65,000 based on experience.
