Purpose
The incumbent has responsibility for (i) strategic governance and product management of Global Transaction Banking (GTB)' portfolio of Digital channels, (ii) the development and execution of strategies to maximize the effectiveness of all digital channels used by clients to access Cash Management & Payment Service products. This includes ScotiaConnect, Global mobile channels, and other emerging delivery channels (iii) Market Intelligence and trends and (iv) execution of the product management cycle for the digital channels.
What You'll Do:
- Defines the end-to-end roadmap and strategic vision for the Digital Channel for business banking by:
- Outlining the strategic roadmap for ScotiaConnect and the mobile banking channel; outlined based on competitive insights and customer expectations.
- Working with Channel Design team to get voice of customer data to inform and improve user experience. Work directly with ales partner and end clients to identify requirements and ensure a positive experience.
- Working with Agile product owners and technology leadership to ensure business KPIs are met to deliver on business case deliverables.
- Influencing GTB lab ecosystem to adhere to enterprise best practices and design standards to ensure design consistency and cohesive customer experience.
- Direct a market intelligence program to identify market trends so that digital channel and product management and opportunities can be identified, and any developing financial or regulatory risks can be mitigated by:
- Directing the research and tracking of global trends, competitor products and pricing as well as market requirements
- Maintaining lines of communication with delivery network, alliance partners and customers about product needs, competitive opportunities and trends.
- Ensuring all cross-border channel services are monitored for regulatory/compliance requirements, including country regulatory and local payment system rules.
- Ensuring the department's management information systems satisfy Bank user needs and reports on key measures are meaningful, accurate and timely.
- Maintaining awareness of competitors' channels, products and services. Directing and authorizing surveys and market research to ensure products satisfy customer needs.
- Analyzing and providing guidance on pricing including past and future pricing trends, price leadership and price elasticity
- Direct the execution of full cycle product management for the assigned portfolio by:
- Managing the product portfolio with design thinking and agile methodologies
- Leading the process of product development to ensure competitive and comprehensive products and services within the assigned portfolio.
- Ensuring that local and global focus is recognized in the customer-centric products and services offered under their mandate, that they are competitively positioned through their lifecycle, business and operational risks are evaluated and monitored, costs are controlled, and profitability is maximized
- Managing new product planning, analysis of markets and product development
- Developing product and service business cases through development of value propositions, product positioning and strategy formulation in collaboration with countries
- Oversee all products and services are in compliance with the countries' regulatory requirements and local payment system rules, AML legislation, SOX Compliance, US Patriot Act and any other compliance or regulatory guidelines applicable to products and services under their mandate.
- Managing the product development process
- Where required, lobbying with internal and external stakeholders to obtain buy-in and resources to proceed with product and services projects.
- Partners with Global Transaction Banking product owners and Business Banking Segments (Small Business, Commercial, Corporate) to execute and operate day-to-day digital banking services by:
- Ensuring end-to-end operational process for digital banking are defined for new and existing services.
- Ensuring appropriate risk, AML, and regulatory obligations and protocols are in place.
- Partners with GTB Risk to ensure all audit items are tracked and responded to within agreed upon timelines.
- Leverages data and insights to identify opportunities to streamline processes and achieve operational excellence within the channels.
- Establishes revenue and sales forecasts for ScotiaConnect, including impact to related GTB products and services (e.g., payments) in conjunction with product teams and partners.
- Supports the GTB and partners sales specialists by defining strategy for employee and customer education, awareness, and understanding of digital banking value proposition; Leverages demos, e-learning, and other best practice resources as required.
- Supports the deployment of new digital capabilities with analytics and dashboard reporting in-line with existing operational reporting.
- Leads the design of financial analytical models incorporating risk, cost, budgets and financial consequences for initiatives impacting Digital Banking
- Provide strong team leadership to motivate and develop individual and team performance by:
- Fostering and developing a strong, positive team environment, driving employee empowerment, innovation and a high degree of engagement
- Exhibiting an ability to listen, negotiate and communicate goals.
- Sharing knowledge, experience and responsibility with employees in a drive for the highest standards of professionalism and service excellence
- Ensuring the performance management process is in place and employee development is a priority for all employees on the team.
- Regularly scheduling one-on-one coaching with direct reports
- Identifying and supporting training and developmental needs of team members
- Managing staffing requirements and departmental workloads
What You'll Bring:
- Degree / post graduate degree, preferably in business
- 10+ years' experience in the product development and management of Banking products and portfolios
- In depth understanding of the design thinking, user experience and digital channels marketplace and regulatory environment; government/payment associations' political direction with knowledge of wide range of business, regulatory, technical and political issues that are often multi-level and complex in nature.
- In-depth understanding of delivery networks of financial products and services within the context of the Bank's sales and service strategies across the various delivery channels.
- Strong business sense with knowledge of financial concepts and the ability to apply them to business situations.
- Strong negotiating skills with experience in deal structuring as responsibilities include negotiating on behalf of the Bank with other sophisticated entities.
- Astute in identifying profitable opportunities and the ability to bring opportunities to fruition.
- A broad understanding of the range of products, policies and delivery capabilities by Scotiabank as this position is highly focused on the enterprise-wide business and regulatory mandates.
- Strong understanding of the effect that change or new products, systems and regulatory requirements will have on existing operations and client offerings.
- Strong general and project management skills and be politically astute.
- Excellent written & oral communication skills are required to deliver strong business focused plans, presentations and the negotiation of deals.
- Strategic and pragmatic thinking to devise/develop business and risk management plans, develop and negotiate long-term vision and direction of the global payment/channel portfolio.
- Strong decision making, forward thinking and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate and respond quickly to technological/market influences. Make difficult decisions in pursuing the development of a well conceptualized defined strategic agenda.
- Be results oriented and innovative in identifying and pursuing opportunities to leverage capabilities to increase revenues, decrease costs and mitigate risks.
- Consensus building and strong interpersonal skills to be applied across all functional levels and represent the Bank's public "face" to partnerships, government, various associations, segments & groups and to establish excellent working relationships.
- Leadership skills to motivate diverse teams to achieve results in a multi – faceted environment.
