Definition of Work:
The Social Worker III is an integral member of the Flexible Assertive Community Treatment Team (FACT) that provides case management and intensive mobile services to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and concurrent related complexities of mental health issues/disorders. In partnership with the client and team, this position is responsible for providing comprehensive assessments and support to individuals in establishing personal recovery plans as well as short- and long-term goals. The successful candidate will also take the lead role in supporting individuals and families using skills in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, concurrent disorders, harm reduction and recovery approach. The Social Worker III will adhere to the standards for client services in accordance with the Canadian Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics, the Standards of Practice in Social Work, and the Social Workers Act of Newfoundland and Labrador. The successful candidate will consult with and work in partnership with local employers, service providers, CHANNAL and other community agencies in the provision of service to clients of the FACT team and other related duties as required. This work is performed independently with strong links to community stakeholders and other staff within the FACT team. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
• Graduation with a Clinical or Integrated Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited program with the MSW field placement in a clinical practice.
• Current registration with the NLASW.
• 2 years current experience, within last 5 years, in a mental health and addictions setting.
• Current and significant experience in the provision of individual, family and group counselling for individuals experiencing addiction.
• Demonstrated knowledge of addictions treatment theory and practice.
• Demonstrated ability in case management principles, skill assessment, interviewing and crisis intervention techniques, social work programming and delivery methods.
• Demonstrated analytical, as well as, oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated independence, initiative and ability to work with others.
• Use of a private vehicle and valid driver license are a condition of employment.

• Satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
