Reporting to the Manager, Equity & Regulatory Control, the Senior Analyst, SCI Regulatory Reporting is a key partner in supporting the Scotia Capital Inc. (SCI) Regulatory Reporting team to maintain compliance with its regulator, Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO). The Senior Analyst is responsible for the calculation of the day-to-day capital, perform financial analysis and stay abreast with the regulatory rules and regulations.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Support Reporting – Through Daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly regulatory reports and schedules
- Prepare Regulatory Capital for debt instruments and related derivatives (futures and interest rate swaps) in accordance with CIRO regulations.
- Prepare weekly and monthly analysis of dividends received and paid in principal inventory and related schedules.
- Prepare weekly regulatory Debt Concentration report (Schedule 9B), monitor regulatory thresholds, and communicate potential breaches.
- Assist with the preparation of various components of the Monthly Financial Review, including the processing of adjustments, reclasses and gross ups in addition to variance analysis reports for debt products.
- Provide cross coverage in the preparation of various capital desks and functions including but not limited to Equity, Repo, New Issue, and FX.
- Assist and support internal and external audits (i.e. KPMG and CIRO) by participating in walkthroughs and ensuring requested files are submitted in a timely matter.
- Support the Manager, Equity and Regulatory Reporting with:
- Information gathering and analysis for projects and ad hoc requests from various internal and external partners.
- Seek to implement innovative and strategic solutions to improve operational efficiency and strengthen controls.
- Providing support and insights into SCI's weekly capital review and Monthly Financial Review.
- Oversight on SCI's general activities.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We'd love to work with you if you have experience with:
- University undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics or other related field.
- 2+ years of related Financial Industry experience.
- Broad knowledge of Bank's capital market products.
- Knowledge of prescribed CIRO regulatory reporting requirements, financial reporting and accounting procedures.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and VBA.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong analytical / problem solving skills are necessary.
- Ability to be highly organized, proficient at time management, work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks within tight time constraints.
- Working well independently, and in a collaborative environment.
- Industry accreditation and/or professional designation is an asset (i.e. CSC, PDO, CFO, CFA, CPA).
