Purpose
The Director will provide strategic direction, leadership, and oversight to client onboarding, KYC, AML & non-financial risks for International Commercial Banking. This includes the deployment of divisional initiatives, alignment of business processes to target and standard operating models, with a focus on enabling business strategy and delivering best-in class solutions while promoting a strong control framework.
The Director will act as the point of contact for the different units within IB Commercial to provide advice and guidance as it relates to all KYC/AML, Compliance and Operational Risk requirements established in the pertaining policies of the Bank. This role is responsible for KYC/AML Quality Assurance and for tracking of all AML and Compliance related deliverables for IB Commercial Banking.
The Director will build a strong control environment including establishing frameworks, processes, communication, testing programs and reporting as it relates to onboarding, KYC/AML, Compliance and Operational Risks, while focusing on operational efficiencies.
The Director will contribute to the overall success of IB Commercial Banking ensuring all plans and initiatives are delivered in support of overall business strategies, and are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
What You'll Do:
- Drive initiatives to improve client onboarding journeys and operational processes, addressing variances, supporting regional deployments, and providing rationale for customizations.
- Act as an expert on client onboarding to support divisional initiatives, digital solutions, and process transformations, ensuring robust delivery and governance.
- Continually assess and recommend enhancements for client onboarding and servicing processes, presenting recommendations supported by funding assessments and best practices.
- Partner with stakeholders across business, operations, product, technology, compliance, and risk teams to ensure cross-functional alignment, timely execution, and effective change management.
- Oversee the implementation of KYC/AML & Sanctions controls, ensuring compliance with enterprise policies and regulatory requirements, and provide advice on AML, KYC, and Sanctions standards.
- Suggest updates to onboarding and remediation processes in line with KYC/AML policy changes, and provide guidance on customer approvals, ensuring compliance and consistency.
- Escalate AML issues and policy variances, keeping management and partners informed of significant issues.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships for the implementation and sustainment of the KYC program across different units.
- Develop and oversee business-line compliance activities and control frameworks, ensuring alignment with policies and regulatory risk management.
- Lead the monitoring of non-financial risks related to AML, Compliance, Conduct, and Operational risk, including KYC/due diligence health, testing results, and action plans.
- Oversee the KYC/AML/Non-Financial Risk Quality Assurance (QA) program, including strategy, sample selection, testing, and reporting to senior management.
- Maintain awareness of AML and Non-Financial Risk regulatory expectations, promote a strong risk culture, and provide guidance on KYC/AML/Compliance training.
- Monitor project milestones to ensure objectives are met in compliance with business strategies and policies, collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure effective and efficient operations, adhering to business controls for risk management, and champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage bank resources.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of key products offered and markets served in IB Commercial division and related AML/ATF, compliance & sanctions requirements is necessary.
- Experience with non-financial risk policy development, implementation, client onboarding/operating model processes, audit activities and/or risk assessment are necessary and will contribute to success.
- Superior influencing skills with strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to build consensus and obtain cooperation.
- Outstanding analytical, written and spoken communication abilities.
- Highly organized and capable of dealing with complex projects.
- ACAMS designation required.
- Ability to manage different stakeholders from different cultures and disciplines
- Strong understanding of the Global and local country regulatory landscape.
- Advanced communication skills with a proven ability to establish credibility and effectively influence others in multiple settings.
- Results focused and ability to deliver under pressure.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
