Position Purpose

Location: Innovation centre- Bolton
The Quality Assurance and Product Engineering Analyst will work with the Senior Manager of Quality, Engineering, and Operations, in addressing product and process issues to ensure compliance to Home Depot and regulatory requirements. This individual will partner with multiple cross-function team members in addressing issues arising from failed product testing, inspections, factory audits, and/or product returns.
In addition, the Quality Assurance and Product Engineering Analyst will use existing established metrics to monitor vendor performance and address issues to drive both quality improvement and speed to market.
This individual will report to the Senior Manager, Quality, Engineering, and Operations.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to drive the product improvement process in terms of merchandise quality, safety and performance.
  • Drive product improvement process through dressing quality issues through supplier corrective actions, benchmarking, and value engineering.
  • Establish and maintain full alignment with the Global Quality and Product Engineering teams and processes
  • Understand Home Depot internal and external customers, global sourcing processes and proprietary brands initiatives
  • Work with 3rd party service providers and Atlanta Product Engineering team to drive program execution by supporting by assisting to address testing failures to improve speed to market
  • Assist in addressing issues arising from product not meeting Canadian specific needs and standards and ensure that Merchandise to Canadian stores is in full compliance.
  • Establish and maintain metrics reporting (RTV) to drive continuous improvement with vendor product
  • Communicate effectively the quality and safety performance to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide general product Engineering guidance and knowledge or evaluations as required to deliver short term business goals


Qualifications

  • College or University Degree, field of Engineering or similar educational background
  • Experience in material and product testing processes.
  • Experience in working with Third Party Inspection and Testing companies.
  • Exposure to Quality Assurance in a Global Sourcing/manufacturing/procurement environment would be an asset.


Years of Relevant Work Experience

  • 3-5 years experience in Quality Assurance and or Product Engineering role.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

  • Quality Assurance and or Product Engineering experience in a manufacturing, distribution and/or retail setting.
  • Have knowledge in understanding product specifications, validating products to specifications and examining results to show compliance to specifications and or industry standards.
  • experience in measuring vendor performance and addressing quality issues with vendors to drive continuous improvement
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams located in different parts of the world.
  • Must have the ability to respond to challenges positively and communicate effectively with the stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with testing standards - CSA, UL, ASTM and others and the ability to interpret the standards and provide clarity to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong working knowledge in Excel
