The Opportunity
Our Pension Administration team is looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Manager, Plan Compliance and Employer Relations to take charge of compliance activities for the pension plan. Reporting to the Director, Pension Administration, you will provide expert guidance and strategic advice to all employees and Board of Directors, on matters related to the plan text and relevant legislation. You will play a critical role in ensuring regulatory compliance, strengthening employer relationships, and ensuring the effective administration of the plan.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the pension policy function, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, benefit calculations, and administrative policies.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, external consultants, and auditors to address compliance changes.
- Provide guidance on pension statements, forms, and communications to ensure consistency with plan text.
- Support the implementation of plan changes and handle complex case escalations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor the Quality Assurance process, to ensure that all pension provisions and policies are integrated into the program, and that payroll data is accurate and compliant with service level standards.
- Serve as the main point of contact for participating employers at a strategic level, building and maintaining positive relationships.
- Develop and implement engagement strategies for each employer, manage the payroll feed process, and drive improvements in the payroll process to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
What you'll bring to the role:
- A University degree in Business Administration or a related field is required, with preference given to candidates holding a professional certification such as Certified Employee Benefits Specialist or Pension Law.
- A minimum of 5-7 years prior experience working with pension administration, or related provincial legislation.
- Familiarity with the Public Service Pensions Act, 2019, provincial tax legislation, and knowledge of pension administration.
- Strong mathematical, analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Proven ability to interpret and apply legislation.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Prior experience developing pension policies and strategies is preferred.
Salary Range: $94,700 - $132,700
