Meridia Recruitment Solutions is pleased to lead the search for a Director of Finance to join their well-established team in New Brunswick!
The Director of Finance is a shared-services role, responsible for end-to-end oversight of the financial health of both ANBL and Cannabis NB. The role is accountable for promoting financial and business acumen both within the finance team and across the organizations through its strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, and risk and compliance portfolios.
The Director of Finance is responsible for creating organizational value and alignment through employee coaching and development, continued systems and process optimization, and strong cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities will include:
- Lead the finance and accounting team, including oversight for all aspects of financial statement preparation including the year-end external audit, financial reporting, and financial planning, including budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans
- Oversee all aspects of the strategic planning process, ensuring alignment to business objectives and priorities, through collaboration with senior leaders, stakeholders and business partners
- Lead the creation of a risk aware culture
- Develop a vision and strategy to optimize the effectiveness of strategic and finance processes through the efficient use of systems and data governance practices
- Provide strategic and financial expertise, support, and guidance to operational and executive management to enable effective decision-making and achievement of short- and long-term goals
- Oversee the complete, accurate and timely provision of all standard reporting requirements and ad-hoc requests for information
- Establish and maintain pertinent policies to conform to applicable standards, to support sound internal controls, and to minimize unnecessary complexity
- Cultivate business partnerships to define frameworks and methodologies that drive business growth while promoting financial responsibility and ensuring compliance with established Board of Directors and Shareholder governance requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- CPA designation
- 10+ years of progressive experience in a related accounting role
- Strong leadership skills with a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience
- Highly effective at communicating, building relationships, and influencing others
- Strong ability to demonstrate integrity, reliability, and an inspiring commitment to excellence
- Strong technical and analytical skills; high attention to detail
- Process improvement driven
- Able to translate strategic direction into tactical operational plans
- Creative problem solver with strong critical thinking skills
- Effective time management, organization, and prioritization capabilities
- Ability to coach and develop others
- Ability to speak, read and write in both official languages (English and French) is a significant asset
