Through the Agricultural Climate Solutions, the NL Living Lab (NL-LL) focuses on co-developing innovative climate solutions to sequester soil carbon sequestration and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. The project is a partnership led by the Newfoundland and Labrador Farmers Association (NLFA) in partnership with Memorial University (Grenfell Campus), the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture (DFFA) with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Agriculture and Agri-Foods Canada (AAFC).
DUTIES
Reporting directly to Principal Investigators (PI), the NL Living Lab Research Coordinator manages the research activities of the NL Living Lab project. The incumbent will play a key role in the day-to-day management and administration of the project as part of the research team. Specifically, the Research Assistant III will help ensure that the project meets its projected milestones in a timely manner, acting as liaison between all PIs and research leads, the NLFA project lead, graduate students, industry contacts, host farmers, academic collaborators, and government contacts (DFFA and AAFC). Duties include overseeing day-to day research and project activities to support and coordinate with NLFA project lead; providing update on all research activities; coordinating with all PIs, research leads, graduate students, summer students, DFFA, NLFA and AAFC scientists, with support from the Grenfell Office of Engagement; coordinating field work with host farmers and neighboring farmers; providing administrative support to the project in collaboration with the Office of Research and Graduate Studies, the Office of Finance, and others as required; purchasing all inputs, supplies, consumables required for the field experiments; working closely with project PI to create and manage the research plan and activities, and setup field experiments; planning events relevant to the project for the purposes of disseminating research results and project updates in collaboration with all stakeholders, and participating in all events related to the NL-LL projects; writing reports and providing financial updates to the PI and other stakeholders; completing website updates; and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Research experience (3-5 years) that included field work, managing research activities, engaging with multiple stakeholders, and providing administrative support to a large research project; completion of a master's degree in agriculture, agricultural sciences, boreal ecosystems, or a related field and coursework towards a PhD is required; or an equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered. Skills or experience in handling basic field equipment or tools and GHG measurements would be an added advantage.
SALARY $72,109 - $84,589 per annum (Non- Bargaining)
