Job Summary
The Program Manager, as part of the Management Team for the Mental Health and Addictions Program, is accountable for providing leadership, management and direction to geographically/program based interdisciplinary teams located in various offices throughout the region. As part of the management team, this position is responsible for contributing to the strategic direction of the Mental Health and Addictions Program. The successful applicant will be responsible for a variety of program initiatives that are paramount in moving the Mental Health and Addiction program forward. Successful candidate will he required to travel within the zone and at time regionally if required. Leadership oversight may include responsibility of oversight of clinical team in geographical areas or program areas.
This position is accountable for the quality of mental health services provided to the population of Rural Avalon, across the continuum and is primarily responsible for the day-to-day management of the services and the efficient and effective use of resources. Working with much autonomy to provide leadership to the interdisciplinary teams that model the values of NL Health Services.
The successful incumbent will work collaboratively with other leaders and programs within NLHS, the Department of Health and Community Services, community agencies and other internal and external stakeholders.
Job Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in a health or social service related discipline is required.
Master's degree preferred.
Current registration with relevant professional association and/or licensing body.
Experience
Five (5) years' experience within the last seven (7) in mental health and addictions, primary health care, Community services and/or community health
Previous management experience is preferred.
Experience in human resources management, financial management, change management and quality initiatives is an asset.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills are essential.
Ability to delegate appropriately, work with others and coach a diverse group to develop their capabilities.
Ability to manage continuous improvement and quality processes.
Knowledge of provincial legislation pertaining to mental health and addictions.
Ability to manage budgets and utilize funds allocated in accordance with prescribed policies and guidelines.
High level interpersonal skills in order to maintain and establish positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Strong written and oral communications skills.
