Job Summary
The Pediatric Emergency Department and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit are located at the Janeway Children's Hospital and provides emergency services and critical care services to children from birth up to age 18.

The Division Manager directs staff within areas of accountability; encourages professional development activities; completes regular performance evaluations; participates in the recruitment process and ensures fair and consistent application of the collective agreement. They establish staffing requirements and monitor and interpret staff utilization statistics. The incumbent establishes performance expectations through feedback and guidance for the department and individual employees. The Division Manager is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating key directions, objectives, and strategies, quality and risk initiatives, and safety initiatives for patients and staff in a dynamic environment. This position reports directly to the Provincial Director for the Children's and Women's Health Program

Job Qualifications

Education
Baccalaureate Degree in a health-related discipline is required.
Master's Degree is preferred.

Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of acute care experience within the last seven (7) is required.
Previous management experience is required.
Acute care experience in Pediatrics or Emergency would be an asset.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
Knowledge of issues related to Paediatrics, Women's Health, or Emergency Services.
Knowledge of program development, implementation and evaluation.
Knowledge of quality improvement and project management.
Knowledge of staff and patient safety initiatives.
Demonstrated conflict management skills.
Demonstrated strong decision making, interpersonal, leadership and communications skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage and foster positive interpersonal relationships with various stakeholders.
Demonstrated financial stewardship.
Ability to manage change and continuous improvement.

Current registration with a professional association.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
