Demands, duties, qualifications
Definition of work:
Reporting to the Manager of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department, the Sterile Supply Technician is responsible for all duties associated with the collection and distribution of patient care items and the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, handling and storage of patient care medical equipment and supplies. The Sterile Supply Technician is also responsible for reprocessing scopes in the Endoscopy Department. All responsibilities are carried out in adherence to professional standards, manufacturer's instructions and departmental policies and procedures. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Physical Demands:
By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):
• Constantly moves/lifts 10-25lbs; occasionally lifts/moves up to 50lbs. Push/pulling with medium forces (22-44lbsF).
• Constantly stands/walks. Regularly required to bend/twist, stretch/reach, and complete low-level postures (kneeling/crouching/stooping).
• Work Environments present potential for exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens within publicly accessible areas. Potential for exposure to blood, bodily fluids and/or other contagion.

Required qualifications:
• Successful completion of a Sterile Supply Technician course approved by Central Health.
• Demonstrated communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to problem solve.
• Consistent demonstration of Central Health's corporate values; Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence. (ICARE).
• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience in Meditech.
