Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to apply advanced clinical knowledge and skills in the treatment of referred clients for Case Management Services. The Psychiatric Registered Nurse II works in collaboration with the Case Management Team.

This position works with considerable independence and carries an active caseload and other duties as assigned in the Case Management Program. This position practices using the FACT Team model of Case Management and receives support on the model from the Team Lead in Case Management. The Community Health Nurse is responsible for the development, planning, organization, supervision and evaluation of the care. The successful candidate uses extensive knowledge and skills gained through experiences in Psychiatric nursing, Recovery and Psychosocial Rehabilitation principles, to assist clients in meeting their goals. The successful candidate may have to complete shifts at Doorways as required.

This position reports to the Program Manager for the Community Mental Health and Addictions team.

Regularly moves or lifts between 5-10 lbs, occasionally moves or lifts up to 25 lbs and occasionally is required to push patients in wheelchairs over 50 lbs.
Regularly walks, stands or sits to provide care or to observe patients.
Regularly uses fine finger/precision work requiring steadiness and accurate movement/control.
Visual concentration is required to observe a patient's behavior and body language.
Occasionally, required to drive to patients homes for visits or to accompany them to community agencies or resources.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary nursing education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing OR a diploma in Nursing supplemented by a Post-Basic course or CNA Certification in Psychiatric Nursing is required.
Practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
Active certification in BCLS.
Five (5) years' experience within the last seven (7) years in psychiatric rehabilitation, acute care or ambulatory care psychiatry is required.
Knowledge of specific psychiatric approaches i.e. supportive counselling; skills teaching; crisis intervention.
Demonstrated communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership abilities and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated progressive leadership skills is required.
A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
