Job Summary
The Regional Manager, Laboratory Medicine, Esoteric Testing is accountable to the Director of Laboratory Medicine. This position is responsible for the efficient and effective planning, directing, organizing, and evaluating the operations of Special Immunochemistry, Mass Spectrometry, Fertility and Genetics services with Eastern Health with staffing responsibilities at the Health Sciences Centre and Major Path sites. This position is responsible, with the division heads, for overseeing development and implementation of regional procedures in the following areas: Quality Control, Validations, Correlations and Equipment. This position also shares responsibility with division heads for overseeing the implementation and monitoring of Quality Assurance activities in areas of responsibility.

The position is responsible for ensuring NL Health Service policies, objectives and quality of services are maintained within the budget and human recourses allocations of the divisions identified.

Job Qualifications

Education
Baccalaureate degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Technology, or other related degree from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution.
Completion of a recognized/accredited Medical Laboratory Technology Program is required.
Certificate course in Laboratory Quality Improvement/Management considered an asset.

Experience
Minimum of five (5) years' experience within the last seven (7) in clinical laboratory medicine including progressive leadership experience in a clinic lab environment is required.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Knowledge of performance management and techniques for monitoring and reporting performance.
Knowledge of quality improvement and risk management and continuous process improvement.
Demonstrated strong oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.

Ability to manage change through leading, motivating and empowering staff, demonstrating commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Eastern Health.
Ability to delegate responsibility, work with others, and coach a diverse group of people to develop their capabilities.
Ability to drive consensus, resolve conflicts and facilities solutions in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Ability to foster a safe and healthy work environment.
Ability to manage budgets and utilize fund within prescribed guidelines.

Other
Current or eligible for registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLHP).
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
