Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and motivated Manager of Digital Solutions and Communications to join our Provincial Digital Strategy team. In this role, the Manager of Digital Solutions and Communications will be responsible for developing, executing and evaluating the health authority's digital solutions and communications strategies to enhance information-sharing, advance health-care system transformation, and promote health and well-being among the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. Reporting to the Senior Director, Provincial Digital Strategy, the manager will work in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues across clinical and corporate program areas, subject matter experts and other cross-functional teams to:
- Develop, implement and evaluate digital plans, initiatives and projects in alignment with NL Health Services' mission, values, goals and strategic priorities.
- Manage the full lifecycle of digital projects, from concept development to implementation and ongoing optimization, liaising with IT professionals and in close collaboration with colleagues, partners and interest holders.
- Oversee the integration of digital solutions with existing communication systems and processes, ensuring seamless functionality and user experience.
- Execute and coordinate digital solutions and communication plans for successful delivery and adoption, including change management communication activities.
- Provide strategic advice and work closely with program leads to provide digital communications advice and support for digital projects, initiatives or issues.
- Evaluate and recommend digital technologies and platforms to support objectives, within the context of the provincial health authority.
- Collect and report on analytics and develop recommendations to achieve identified results, enhance information-sharing and deepen engagement and communications with patients, families, staff and other target audiences.
- Ensure the effective functioning of the organization's owned digital communications and marketing systems, working with colleagues in Communications and IT to ensure platforms are technically optimized and functioning in line with organizational objectives.
- Participate as an active member of relevant committees, including project-specific and change management teams.
- Develop and execute digital communications and roll-out plans to communicate timely information to interest holders and partners.
- Introduce mechanisms to collect and monitor the effectiveness of digital solutions and communications initiatives and take action to adjust plans as required.
- Seek opportunities to proactively share important health information with public audiences.
- Develop, write, edit a variety of communication materials, including news releases, reports, articles, speeches, presentation decks, social media, etc. for various intended audiences.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation, improve patient care and achieve objectives.
Job Qualifications
Education
Completion of an undergraduate degree (master's degree in a related field preferred) in digital communications, communications, public relations, information technology, health-related field, or other related field is required.
Membership and/or affiliation with professional associations like the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the Canadian Public Relations Association, Project Management Association of Canada, the Canadian College of Health Leaders or Canadian Health Executive designation may be an asset.
Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience is required.
Experience leading/implementing digital projects and solutions is required.
Change management, quality assurance and project management training an asset.
Experience working with contractors/vendors preferred.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Extensive knowledge of current trends and practices related to digital solutions supporting health-care communications and access to health information and services.
Experience leading and implementing digital projects, advising senior leaders and working in collaboration with IT professionals is required.
Excellent communication, writing, editing and presentation skills with strong technical aptitude and superior knowledge of IT communication technologies and industry standards.
Experience managing a wide range of digital platforms, content management systems (e.g. WordPress), and communications/marketing tools in a business environment is required.
Proficiency with tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Campaign and Hootsuite is required.
Experience with digital marketing and knowledge of SEO, growth tracking, ROI, web-related analysis and other metrics is preferred.
Knowledge of provincial health-care environment; specifically in relation to solutions supporting health communications and access to health information and services.
