What you will do
Reporting to the Director of the Arts and Culture branch, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of professionals and ensuring effective and client responsive delivery of programs and supports to the sector. You will also participate in planning and strategy execution that supports the growth of the arts and culture sector in a manner that is client focused and supports the benefits of the arts for all New Brunswickers. The duties and responsibilities will include:
- Provide leadership and coaching to your team in the implementation of the department's priorities.
- Support the team in the development of application and evaluation processes and procedures.
- Ensure effective and beneficial relationships exist with key stakeholders and partners.
- Collaborate with other Tourism, Heritage and Culture branches along with other government departments in shaping and implementing priorities to support the Arts and Culture sectors.
- Ensure program budgets are on-track.
- Provide briefings and recommendations to senior management.
- Participate on various committees, task forces and working groups.
- Other related duties as required.
Work Environment
- Office location: Marysville Place, Fredericton
- Office layout: Open offices
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

You have strong business acumen, excellent interpersonal communication skills, are self motivated and can be strategic when thinking outside the box. You have solid relationship building and initiative management skills and a proven track record of motivating teams. You demonstrate leadership competencies that promote teamwork and individual development. Your drive for excellence, flexibility, and ability to be a team player will ensure success in this position.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have
- University degree in business administration or a related discipline and a minimum of six (6) years of related work experience
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
- Demonstrated 5 years of supervisory/management experience in leading a team
- Considerable experience in using Microsoft Office 365 software and applications
- Considerable experience and knowledge of project and change management
- Knowledge of outcome and measurement frameworks
- Written and spoken competence in English and French is required
Nice to have
- Experience in research, planning and organizing
- Experience in developing community partnerships and initiatives
Wage
$2,903.00 to $3,862.00 bi-weekly (Pay Band 6)
