The Early Learning and Development team is currently working on professional learning and development strategies that align with the vision, values and goals of the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework and are looking for an Early Learning Consultant to join their team.

Who you are:
You have a thorough knowledge of the early childhood sector and early childhood education centres. You have the ability to evaluate inclusive early childhood education practices with attention to detail and analyze results in order to intervene to reduce gaps. You are able to facilitate groups, virtually or face-to-face, and coach individuals. You have the ability to adapt quickly, provide high quality customer service and collaborate with other team members and partners. You are customer focused and able to operate within the values of the New Brunswick Public Service.

What you will do:
Reporting to the Director of Early Learning and Development within the Educational Services Division, the Early Learning Consultant will organize, facilitate and deliver professional learning opportunities for early learning and childcare personnel responsible to support young children's learning. Responsibilities can include:

  • Facilitating the delivery of the online Introduction to Early Childhood Education course, including planning and leading forum discussions, providing written feedback to online postings and initiating individual contacts to support learners.
  • Co-constructing, planning and modifying professional learning modules and workshops in collaboration with the Early Learning Specialist.
  • Ensuring the modules align with the mandatory curriculum framework through reflection, observation, and by seeking feedback from the sector.
  • Providing access to resources, materials and on-site support to increase administrator and educator understanding of high-quality practices related to language-rich programs, inclusionary practices, and responsive environments for young children.
  • Delivering professional learning sessions and workshops tailored to needs of community-based initiatives and other early childhood programs and services currently under the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
  • Promoting the Early Learning and Child Care Curriculum framework to a variety of audiences to inform and increase public understanding.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Psychology or related field.
  • A minimum of four (4) years in the field of early childhood development and/or education.
  • Extensive knowledge of and practice in the NB Early Learning and Child Care Curriculum Framework.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with various types of technology that facilitate communication and collaboration via distance.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge related to developmental or curriculum theory.
  • Certificate of completion of the NB Early Learning and Child Care Curriculum Framework.

Wage:
Pay Band 4: $56,758 ¿ $79,378 annually.

Work environment:

  • Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30
