The Town of Riverview is seeking candidates for the summer student position of Office Assistant with the Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Relations from May 20th to August 22nd, 2025.

The selected candidate will provide frontline customer service to the patrons of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Relations.

This position will also provide general administrative support as well as onsite support for summer coordinators and the full-time staff of the department.

Part I - Characteristic Duties / Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support including but not limited to answering telephones, providing patron customer service, responding to email inquiries, photocopying, etc.
  • Create flyers, letters and notices as required.
  • Assist with special projects as requested.
  • Provide support for community events including being onsite at an event.
  • Provide trip/activity support when needed.
  • Coordinate the sign out and maintenance of the department's vehicles and vehicle inspection forms.
  • Adhere to the Town of Riverview Confidentiality Policy and the New Brunswick Right to Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
  • Adhere to the policies, practices, and procedures of the Town of Riverview.
  • Understand and explain the policies, practices, and procedures of the Town of Riverview to the public.
  • Always demonstrate and maintain a high standard of professional conduct.
  • Establish and maintain a good relationship with program participants, the public, volunteers, and co-workers.
  • Use critical thinking skills but seek assistance when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Community Recreation Coordinator or designated.

Part II - Job Requirements:

  • Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
  • Currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary education.
  • Familiarity with Town of Riverview policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, web browsers, internet research and social media.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively work with the public.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Part III - Working Conditions:

  • Position is considered summer student employment with a defined term within the summer months.
  • Required to work for the entire duration of the term of employment.

This is a Full-Time summer student position with a rate of pay of $17.35 for 35 hours per week.
