The Department of Justice and Public Safety is dedicated to the rule of law, the promotion of the public interest, and the impartial administration of justice and works to improve the safety, security and resiliency of communities and citizens.

Within the Security and Emergencies Division, the Community Capacity and Resiliency Branch challenges conventional program delivery practices with a community driven, government supported approach. This new Branch is responsible for learning from crises and coordinating provincial and regional efforts to help communities become more resilient to future emergencies. Regional teams work in direct alignment with Regional Service Commissions and existing community networks to help implement strategies targeting the social issues that drive the inequitable impact of emergencies on communities.

12 Regional Resiliency Teams across the province are bringing together NGOs, community groups, local business, First Nations, Regional Health Authorities and provincial and local government department representatives to build capacity and create action plans to address areas such as:

  • Wellness and mental health
  • Stable housing/healthy built environments
  • Access to transportation
  • Food security
  • Emergency preparedness

What you will do:
Reporting to the Manager of Community Capacity and Resiliency, the successful candidate will be responsible to:

  • Lead a strategic planning process to develop longer term action plans and annual activities for both regions.
  • Further develop the Resiliency Teams in these regions, engaging and bringing the right people to these collaborative tables, leveraging existing networks.
  • Work closely with Regional Service Commissions in the Fundy and Kings regions to develop collaborative workplans in the area of community development.
  • Chair or co-chair Fundy and Kings regional Resiliency Committee meetings.
  • Support regional committees to apply for funding to lead actions in resiliency plans and manage the funding.
  • Lead communication between the Branch's provincial team and regional committees.
  • Manage the implementation of activities and report on activities in the regional action plans.
  • Collaborate with the NB Emergency Measures Organization (NBEMO) to support and inform emergency response.
  • Engage key stakeholders in the region and help build and support partnerships within the region.

Work environment:

  • Office location: Remote (Work from home)
  • Your Team: Small, innovative and diverse team of community minded people
  • Monday to Friday, 34 hours per week. Due to the nature of community work, you may be required to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
  • Regular travel within the Fundy and Kings regions is required.

Need to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Social Sciences plus 5 years of community development experience
  • Valid class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.


An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Wage
Pay Band 4 (68 hours bi-weekly) $2,047 to $2,863 bi-weekly
