What you will be doing…
- The Employment Specialist is responsible to the College/campus for the facilitation and support of employability skill development for participants with disabilities in Achieve Program.
- As a member of the Achieve Program you will work closely with employers, the business community and service providers.
- You will provide leadership and guidance that will enable persons with disabilities to obtain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for long-term employment. Specifically, you will support the development of employability skills, provide job coaching and coordinate work experiences.
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary diploma in human services, social services or related discipline.
- You have a minimum of three years of recent and related occupational experience supporting persons with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.
- Occupational experience that includes facilitating workshops or groups or with adult education would be considered an asset.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, and MS Teams.
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
- Experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation would be considered an asset.
- Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.
