Job Summary
The Mobile Crisis Response Team offers an innovative response to persons experiencing mental health-related crisis. This team operates for 12-hours per day, 7-days per week. The Mobile Crisis Response Team provides in-person interventions directly in the community to persons experiencing mental health crisis where and when it occurs. The Mobile Crisis Response Team is an Emergency Service responding to unknown clients/unpredictable situations in a variety of community settings as determined by need and coordinating when needed with other services such as police/paramedics. The Mobile Crisis Response Team responds within specific geographic boundaries which includes Burin and some surrounding areas.
Staff of the Mental Health Crisis Centre work closely with other mental health emergency services located at the Burin Peninsula Health Centre, as well as outside agencies. The Psychiatric Registered Nurse I will participate as a member of the Crisis Intervention Team in providing appropriate intervention in mental health crisis situations through the utilization of community-based mental health approaches. To ensure a quality service, the Psychiatric Registered Nurse I will participate in orientation and continuing educational events, clinical case conferencing activities, and community mental health research and quality assurance. Following established policies and accepted standards of professional practice, work will require considerable independent judgement, quick decision-making, and the ability to assess and intervene competently and calmly in crisis situations. This position will also include group work, outreach and education, data collection, and evaluation.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required.
Completion of a post-basic course or CNA certification in Psychiatric Nursing is an asset.
Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
Current BCLS for Health Care Providers Certification is required.
Minimum of two (2) years' experience within the last four (4) in Mental Health is required.
Significant and current knowledge in utilizing community mental health resources and psychiatric approaches, such as supportive counselling and crisis and suicide intervention.
Demonstrated knowledge of professional mental health nursing practices; community resource utilization; foundations of practice in the areas of mental health, including related issues and impacts; and related theories, techniques and intervention.
Demonstrated effective crisis intervention, case management, assessment, analytical, and communication skills.
A high level of self-awareness, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships including those with clients, co-workers, supervisors, other professionals and community partners.
A satisfactory Enhanced Security Clearance from the Royal Canadian Mountain Police is a condition of employment.
A valid Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
