Halifax Water is inviting applicants for one (1) Regular Full-time Building Process Maintainer for our Lakeside/Timberlea Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Operations Department. Responsibilities

The Building Process Maintainer performs all forms of general labour work associated with the operation of the wastewater treatment facilities.

  • Carry out janitorial duties in and around water supply plant buildings. This shall include, but not be limited to, cleaning of floors, washrooms, offices, windows. The Plant Supervisor will establish a schedule of cleaning duties that will be completed at a prescribed frequency, which may be modified to accommodate events at the plant.
  • Carry out upkeep of roads, grounds, walkways and buildings, and performs other assigned duties. Typical duties include snow removal and ice control, lawn mowing, planting, raking, weeding etc.
  • When assigned by the Plant Supervisor, load and unload deliveries, including treatment chemicals. Carry out other miscellaneous tasks as required, such as pick up and deliveries, escorting contractors.
  • Assist in the maintenance of equipment associated with water supply plant facilities.Perform general labour duties such as moving materials, rigging, clean-up and assist Operators with maintenance duties.
  • Perform duties as prescribed for the position as defined in the plant's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for this position include:

  • Grade 12, (or equivalent)
  • One (1) year related experience in municipal maintenance operations.
  • The successful incumbent must also have a valid NS Class 5 drivers' licence in good standing.
