Job Title: Senior Manager of Human Resources

Location: St. John's, NL

Position Type: Full-time position

The Association for New Canadians is seeking a Senior Manager of Human Resources to lead the Human Resources practices across the organization. This role has oversight for HR systems, policies, and processes. The ideal candidate will foster equity, diversity, and inclusion while empowering teams to achieve their fullest potential.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement agency wide HR programs and initiatives
  • Provide guidance and support to Division Heads and Managers across the full range of activities in the HR portfolio, including and not limited to performance management, employee training and learning, absent/leave management, compensation, and benefits
  • Support employee relations matters including, coaching of people managers, performance improvement processes, disciplinary actions, and workplace investigations
  • Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of EDI strategies and initiatives that align with the organization's mission and foster an inclusive environment
  • Responsible for coordinating the rollout and delivery of HR programs and contributing to process improvements
  • Cultivate strong relationships with division leads and support the alignment between the people and business strategies
  • In collaboration with Senior Leadership Team provide full cycle recruitment practice to support People Managers
  • During organizational changes, coordinate necessary HR activities including the planning and implementation of potential changes affecting roles and/or employee's terms of employment
  • Develop and advise on comprehensive employment policies that align with legal standards, professional practices, and organizational needs
  • Ensure compliance with local Employment and Labor Standards, safeguarding organizational integrity and minimizing risk. Provide proactive guidance on legislative changes and their implications for the workforce
  • Mentor, coach, and empower HR staff to achieve professional excellence
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and accountability within the HR function

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered
  • A minimum 3 years in a HR senior management capacity with demonstrated success in leading HR teams and navigating complex organizational dynamics
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic HR policies, and driving EDI initiatives
  • Deep understanding of local Employment and Labor Standards
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization
  • Strong prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities

  • Flexibility in working outside of core business hours.
  • This position is subject to a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
