The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is seeking an individual to join the Assessment and Analysis branch as a Data Analyst in Fredericton.

When crafting data products, you consider the big picture of the purposes of your clients but also pay meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.What you will do:
Reporting to the Director of Assessment and Analysis, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring:
- Data received by the branch is ready to use for analysis, reporting, and sharing; Ensuring that it conforms to the established standards for each data set, is appropriately labelled, and standard conversions are applied.
- Data holdings of the branch are appropriately managed by developing data standards/dictionaries (in collaboration with the Psychometrician, Director, and Data Specialist), developing, documenting, and adhering to file naming and storing conventions, and complying with data security and privacy legislation requirements.
- Data collection mechanisms are effective for the purpose for which data is to be used and efficient for those from whom data is collected.
- Annual data reports and ad hoc requests for data, analysis, and reports are complete, accurate, informative, aesthetically pleasing, and provided on time. This includes finding innovative approaches to analyzing, communicating, and disseminating results.
- Ongoing liaison with internal clients, school district personnel, the media, and other organizations.
The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will include:
- Basic data analysis using SPSS and Excel.
- Researching, selecting, and using the most appropriate technologies to conduct surveys and other data collection.
- Merging datasets and migrating existing data.
- Designing databases for longitudinal analyses under direction of the psychometrician.
- Producing graphs, writing reports, and creating presentations.
- Summarizing PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment), PCAP (Pan-Canadian Assessment Program), and other reports.
- Collating data from sources such as Statistics Canada and the New Brunswick Health Council.
- Conducting jurisdictional scans to gather background information on various topics. provide advice to senior management on best practices in assessment and overseeing the quality of the assessment and evaluation programs in the province's Anglophone schools.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. Weare looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have:
- University degree or Diploma in statistics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience manipulating and summarizing datasets, with proficiency in IBM SPSS and Excel, and basic knowledge of statistics and quantitative research methodology.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.
Nice to have:
- Experience working with Microsoft SharePoint and Office 365.
- Experience working with Power BI.

Wage:
Pay Band 3: $51,662¿$72,176 annually.
Work environment:
- Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton.
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30.
