Department Overview:
The Hardware Services group within Mainframe Delivery is responsible for the Design, Deploy and Support of our Mainframe Hardware Infrastructure including CPUs, Coupling Facilities, DASD, Tape systems and their related connections and management consoles. We are responsible for capacity planning for Mainframe Hardware especially as it relates to CPU capacity and for monitoring and tuning the performance of the z/OS systems. We are responsible for Mainframe Data Replication as it relates to our capabilities to perform Disaster Recovery. We also provide consultation services with Architects, Infrastructure Specialists and application developers on system and application design as it relates to the performance of these systems.
Job Description/Accountabilities:
This job posting is for Intermediate Level IT Build Analyst.
The successful candidate will be involved primarily in working with all Mainframe Hardware Management components as it relates to:
- Mainframe Hardware configuration (HCD)
- Mainframe Hardware Problem determination – DASD, Tape, CPU, FICON, Replication switches, etc
- Working with the vendors to support changes and
- Analyzing the impact of changes on the performance/throughput of the mainframe environment and making recommendations based on this analysis
- Working with other team members to assist with any performance related issues
- Continually acquire and maintain knowledge of Performance Management techniques, hardware components, features, and tools that support Mainframe processing.
Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:
Computer Science College / University or equivalent work experience
Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- Some Mainframe system experience, with most of the following skills:
- Knowledge of Mainframe hardware components
- IBM z Xplore learning participant with badges
- Knowledge of Computing and Performance Management Concepts
- Solid fundamentals with one or more programming languages
- Knowledge of z/OS concepts and facilities
- Solid problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of TSO/ISPF functions, JCL, SAS, MICS, REXX and CLIST programming would be an asset
- The successful candidate must be a self-starter, team player, a quick learner and able to collaborate positively with other departments
Additional Information:
Travel between TD's Data Centers in Scarborough and Barrie is required.
Hybrid = 2-3 days in the office per week
Schedule – Hours are generally daytime but there are demands for off prime work hours and on call pager rotation.
