Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Integrated Youth Services (NB-IYS), the Communications & Engagement Coordinator provides a range of communications services to support NB-IYS, a provincial initiative with the goal of providing youth and young adults with enhanced access to integrated health and social services, thereby easing transition points for youth and their families. The coordinator's primary focus is implementing NB-IYS's communications strategies using a full range of channels and tools; with a focus on raising awareness and participation in specific initiatives being implemented networkwide, and on coordinating communications activities with NB-IYS centre lead agencies.
Communications tasks will have a broad stakeholder audience including young people and families, service partners, funders, policymakers, and the general public. The coordinator advances NB-IYS's brand and reputation within the province in youth health and wellness by working with NB-IYS leaders to develop and refine communication strategies; researching, producing and delivering content such as articles, reports and newsletters for multiple stakeholders using a variety of media; social media, and by planning and executing announcements and events.
This position coordinates and co-facilitates youth & family network committees, establishes a dignifying and purposeful relationship with Youth & family Network members by getting to know them as unique individuals. The position seeks Network members' input in the development of NB-IYS and initiatives related to a specific program and/or project; assist with planning, development, evaluation, quality improvement and research to ensure that NB-IYS is developed from a youth & family perspective.
Main Duties:
- Research, write and edit content for print, digital and in-person communications activities, for both internal and external audiences, including tailoring key messages for a wide variety of communications channels.
- Implement components of NB-IYS's communications strategy, with a focus on priority programs or projects being implemented province-wide, and on coordinating communications activities with NB-IYS lead agencies.
- Work with NB-IYS leaders and key stakeholders to execute communications strategies and plans that engage, inform and meet the needs of the various NB-IYS stakeholders and partner groups.
- Work with NB-IYS centres to support communications and brand activities, including onboarding with communication tools and templates, formatting promotional tools, and supporting web page development and maintenance.
- Gather content, write and develop monthly internal newsletter as well as special external news blasts as required.
- Produce communication materials and activities from information provided by
- stakeholders and group partners, including articles, videos, presentations, bulletins, briefing notes, FAQs, web copy, events and content.
- Prepare high-level reports and update to communicate NB-IYS's activities and outcomes for the purpose of being accountable to stakeholders including funders.
- Collect and catalogue stories about the NB-IYS experience from young people, families, service providers, and other stakeholders for inclusion in communication materials.
- Participate in committees and interdepartmental meetings, collaborating on the planning or implementation from the outcome of the meetings.
- Support the research, writing, editing and formatting of organizational guides, resources and documents. Review and format documents before they are published to ensure they are consistent with brand guidelines.
- Coordinate NB-IYS's Provincial Youth & family Network Committee(s) related to a specific program and/or project which includes arranging monthly meeting logistics, putting together meeting agenda, creating content documents as necessary, scheduling guest speakers and hosting various education sessions and training. Seek input and expertise on the development of NB-IYS centres, e-Health, public awareness campaigns, and related initiatives.
- Co -facilitate NB-IYS's Provincial Youth Network Committee(s) related to a specific program and/or project by utilizing lived experience and consumer knowledge while encouraging skill development to enhance the effectiveness of network members and youth leadership across the province, feedback and support virtually, in person or through the Provincial Youth & family Advisory calls.
- Advocate youth & family engagement projects at NB-IYS related to a specific program and/or project. Support youth peer involvement to ensure the lived experience perspective informs the process.
- Assist in the onboarding new team members and coordinates the arrangement of travel, honorarium payments and logistics.
- Support content development of NB-IYS's online platforms for a specific program and/or project including NB-IYS's website by providing feedback and consultation; supporting the creation of social media public awareness campaigns; and working in partnership with the PHSA Health Literacy team assigned to build a social media network.
- Work with the NB-IYS central office team and IYS centres to create a community engagement strategy. Lead the coordination of provincial youth engagement for a specific program and/or project in the development of NB-IYS services. This includes reviewing and revising documents and materials to ensure an accurate representation from a youth& family /lived experience perspective.
- Assist and/or coordinate other projects, special events and activities as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to candidates with University degree in the field of Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field and two years to four years recent, related experience in communications. A combination of related work experience and education will be considered.
- Proficiency in both English and French languages is mandatory
- Working in health or mental health, human services or community sector is an asset.
- A valid Work Permit is mandatory for temporary residents.
- Residency in New Brunswick (NB) or willingness to relocate is mandatory.
- A new Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory.

Working Conditions:
- The workweek is 37.5 hours.
- Flexible work schedules may be required to meet operational requirements.
- Travel within the province and the service region may be required.
