ASD-E- Circle of Care Strategic Navigator

The Circle of Care Strategic Navigator in Anglophone East School District plays a critical role in overseeing and navigating strategic initiatives and operations for indigenous students, specifically tailored to meet the unique needs and cultural context of Indigenous families within the district. The Navigator is responsible for developing and implementing strategies, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring the effective delivery of culturally responsive services to support successful reintegration/transitions and support successful academic success among Indigenous students.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives for Indigenous students within the district.
  • Define goals, objectives, and performance indicators that align with the cultural values, traditions, and needs of the Indigenous students.
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust strategies to address the evolving challenges and priorities specific to Indigenous contexts.

Program collaboration:

  • Uncover culturally diverse programs that reflect the components, protocols, and guidelines and respects the cultural diversity, strengths, and challenges of Indigenous student in ASD-E.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous leaders, community organizations, justice system professionals, group homes and families to ensure the effective implementation of idealized program initiatives within the communities, families, and the district.

First Nations Community Engagement:

  • Build and foster relationships with Indigenous leaders, community members, Elders, and knowledge keepers.
  • Engage in respectful and meaningful consultations to understand the familyâ??s needs, priorities, and aspirations.
  • Collaborate with families, communities, and school district to bridge culturally appropriate solutions and strategies for supporting successful school reintegration.

Programs and funding:

  • Identify funding or program opportunities specific to supporting Indigenous individuals within and outside of the school district.
  • Prepare grant proposals and/or program applications to secure funding for program initiatives targeting the specific needs of the student.
  • Work closely with the finance department to manage program budgets and ensure responsible fiscal stewardship.

Program Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Develop and implement a culturally relevant system for monitoring and evaluating program outcomes and impacts on Indigenous studentsâ?? academic path .
  • Collect and analyze data to assess program effectiveness and inform decision-making at the individual, school, and district levels.
  • Prepare reports and present to communicate program results to schools and district.

Collaboration and Networking:

  • Collaborate with First Nations organizations, government agencies, and community partners to enhance navigation, share resources, and promote a comprehensive approach to supporting Indigenous students in their transition from the school system to home.
  • Foster partnerships and engage in culturally appropriate networking activities to promote collaboration and resource-sharing.

Cultural Safety and Responsiveness:

  • Ensure that program activities and services are culturally safe and responsive to the needs, values, and traditions of First Nations communities.
  • Integrate Indigenous knowledge, protocols, and practices into program design and delivery.
  • Advocate for the cultural rights and interests of First Nations individuals within the community.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or master's degree in Education, social work, Indigenous studies, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience.

Experience in program development, strategic planning, or project management

Knowledge of, evidence-based practices, and relevant policies within the education system, specifically in relation to Indigenous individuals in New Brunswick.

Familiarity with the unique challenges, strengths, and cultural diversity of First Nations communities, families, and students within the province.

Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate teams working within Indigenous communities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with Indigenous leaders, community members, and stakeholders.

Data analysis and program evaluation skills to assess program effectiveness and inform decision-making within Indigenous contexts.

Yearly salary: $89,530
