Technical SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Lead
Position Overview:
The Technical SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Lead proactively identifies SEO opportunities, independently creates solutions based on a business problem and supports the overall SEO Team Vision for The Home Depot Canada by attracting quality traffic to our website for lead generation, engagement, and revenue. This role serves as a lead on SEO data capability projects and a large SEO portfolio, collaborating with different teams and leadership, providing SEO project estimates for prioritization of tasks, balancing Earned Media team workload, and mentoring SEO analysts and Content analysts on the Earned Media team.

This role is also responsible for leading data capability initiatives that drive business profitability, increase efficiencies, and improve customer experience. This position will help enable The HomeDepot.ca teams to identify optimization opportunities and make data-driven decisions that drive traffic and conversion. This role will be an integral part of the team to improve overall SEO program performance by leveraging data as a competitive advantage and seeking out new SEO opportunities.

This role will be proficient in SQL, GBQ and Tableau, and will potentially work with IT, Analytics, Product and Marketing team, which will require critical planning, and execution in a fast-paced environment. This individual must possess a strong understanding of the marketing landscape for maximizing the organic discoverability within search engines such as Google, YouTube, Pinterest, Bing, and other Earned Media.
Key Responsibilities:
SEO Data Analysis & Reporting
• Own and establish SEO KPI dashboards and regularly monitor and report out to internal stakeholders Leverage large-scale data to build dashboards and other capabilities to create efficiencies in SEO reporting, SEO research, and analysis, drive stronger insights and drive increased SEO traffic.
• Evangelize SEO KPIs and data sources to build enhanced views and capabilities.
• Lead and establish the analysis of SEO KPIs and measure performance of projects and/or SEO initiatives
• Automate data feeds via Google BigQuery and Tableau and leverage APIs to push and pull data from various third-party sources.
• Identify and lead initiatives leveraging data to support process improvements and enhanced SEO reporting and research opportunities.
SEO Strategy
• Lead and guide SEO analysts in conducting SEO research, providing deliverables and executing recommendations for areas including but not limited to an Ecommerce category portfolio, Technical SEO and Local SEO.
• Define & Support the SEO Strategy for The Home Depot Canada properties and prepare actionable plans and recommendations to Senior Leadership
• Drive vision & purpose by combining SEO research with business goals to drive alignment with partners


Project Management
• Manage and improve internal process and alignment with other departments (UX, Product, IT, Merchandising, Marketing and more)
• Communicate to team and management on project development, timelines, and results.
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders from Merchandising, Product Management, IT, Analytics, Business Intelligence, Earned Media, and others to ideate and execute SEO strategy.

Partnering
• Work with the Product Management and Technology teams to ensure SEO best practices in newly developed and existing code.
• Advocate for SEO-friendly design & SEO-compatible architecture and development.
• Lead SEO Consultation as subject matter expert in technical SEO and local SEO.

Team Leadership:
• Become the team expert in in-house SEO Tools and continue to find ways to improve the tool stack and SEO Analysts' training and research process.
• Train/develop analysts to support the growth of the Earned Media Team
• Delegate/guide work to SEO and Content analysts where needed.

Skills:
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail; self-starter
• Prior analytics and data analysis experience
• Proficient with data visualization software (preferably Tableau)
• Proficient running queries against data (preferably with Google BigQuery or SQL)
• Experience with a modern scripting language a plus (preferably Python)
• Project management experience associated with interactive marketing and/or web projects.
• Experience utilizing statistical techniques to identify key insights that help solve business problems.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power Point
• Advanced experience with website analysis using a variety of analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Omniture)
• Experience using SEO and business-related tools including Google Search Console, Conductor, BrightEdge, Google Adwords, Botify, ScreamingFrog, Ahrefs and other site crawling and keyword research tools
• Proven experience in search engine marketing tactics including on page, off page, social and local SEO strategies.

Minimum Education:
• University/College degree in a related area of study, or equivalent experience.
• Education in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Math, Statistics, etc.) a plus
Minimum Years of Work Experience:
• 3-4 years experience in Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Content Marketing and related fields.
• 1-2 years experience leading a team a plus.
Minimum Leadership Experience:
• Previous leadership experience an asset
• Bilingual in French and English is an asset
Certifications:
• None
Other Requirements/Assets:
• E-commerce knowledge and experience a plus
• A basic understanding of HTML/CSS a plus
• Experience defining and communicating SEO strategy and roadmaps to Senior Leadership
• Proven ability to work collaboratively to improve workflows, solve problems and take action.
• Experience working with Content Management System (CMS) and building/administering content in CMS environments a plus.
