The External Content Strategy Centre of Expertise (COE) supports the Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA's) broader mission to inspire and connect our customers, communities and colleagues through communications, conversations and advocacy that enrich lives, drive business outcomes and enhance our brand. Specifically, the External Content Strategy COE is focused on differentiating TD's Canadian Business Segments in the market and elevating the brand to support business objectives. This team delivers compelling stories that resonate with Canadians through traditional earned, owned and paid content, with an emphasis on year-round integrated programs that connect key financial trends, advice and customer needs.

ROLE OVERVIEW, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE

We're looking for a strong and passionate communicator to join our team and help us bring the TD story to life through strategic and creative external communications initiatives in support of TD's Canadian Personal Bank by:

  • Designing integrated media strategies (earned, owned and paid) and delivering compelling external communications initiatives for the Canadian Personal Bank, working collaboratively with partners including CAPA's relationship managers and TD's Content Studio as well as, Marketing, control partners in legal, privacy and compliance.

  • Building campaigns with a focus on providing valuable advice and increasing financial confidence among priority customer segments; leveraging TD experts and compelling narratives to help drive brand leadership in earned and social media and across digital channels.

  • Partnering with our external PR agency and TD Marketing colleagues to execute communication tactics that support and promote our brand positioning and deliver storytelling that resonates with customers, communities and colleagues and supports business objectives.

  • Developing compelling and impactful paid programming and digital storytelling (including influencer partnerships) to amplify external messaging and earned media, leveraging social channels the TD Newsroom and other assets.

  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships with key journalists.

  • Monitoring trends in the financial and consumer landscapes and emerging conversations in traditional and on social media and proactively identifying new and innovative ways of providing advice tailored to Canadians evolving needs.

  • Leverage and recommend new tracking tools and platforms to build and enhance reporting across traditional (earned, paid) and digital| social media channels.

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

  • Track-record of conceiving and delivering creative and compelling PR, marketing communications campaigns and digital storytelling that drive outcomes.

  • Skilled communicator with strong media relations background and demonstrated experience developing customer-centric corporate positioning in media messaging.

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in an integrated capacity alongside business leaders, marketing and social media teams, publishing and creative design teams, vendors as well as control functions (legal, compliance, privacy etc.).

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills to create materials that make an impact, including digital content, speeches and presentations, news stories, media pitches and releases.

  • Ability to develop and implement innovative and engaging communications plans to effectively drive business objectives.

  • Experience building and managing multilingual and multicultural Public Relations campaigns

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines; self-starter highly motivated to deliver results and ability to work independently.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • 7 years+ communications experience in corporate or consulting environment

  • Experience in financial services or large regulated/publicly-traded company an asset

  • Excellent judgment in dealing with sensitive issues and providing counsel to senior executives

  • Able to manage, budget, projects, results reporting, analysis and vendor relationships

  • Experience leading digital and visual campaigns, especially storytelling through video
