We invite you to join the Mount Carleton Provincial Park Team! Mount Carleton is one of the largest natural sites in New Brunswick, located in the north-west of the province.

A picturesque blend of Acadian forests and mountain peaks, Mount Carleton contains over 17, 000 hectares of wilderness waiting for today's explorers.

A provincial park since 1970, the highest peak in the Maritimes, part of the Appalachian Mountains with hiking trails, camping, fishing and a designated Dark Sky Preserve are all part of what awaits you.

What you will do

Reporting to the Park Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for preparing and maintaining trails, roads and heavy equipment at Mount Carleton Provincial Park. The duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Operating grooming equipment and backhoe to prepare and maintain trails and roads
  • Ensuring trails are safe and free of hazard, such as fallen trees, rocks or uneven snowpack
  • Ensuring roads are safe for public use through plowing and placing sand and salt on roads
  • Ensuring trails meet provincial standards for snowmobile use
  • Performing minor repairs or adjustments to road and trails, signage, or trail markers as needed
  • Maintaining, lubricating, and cleaning equipment
  • Conducting routine inspections on equipment
  • Preparing and maintaining vehicle logbook
  • Keeping areas clean and organized
  • Performing other tasks as required

Work Environment

  • Working nights, weekends, holidays, shifts, additional and variable hours
  • Working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Light to moderate lifting

Who you are

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have

  • Completion of grade 10
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
  • Experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required

Nice to have

  • Valid Emergency First Aid/CPR certification
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training

Wage

$23.72 per hour
