In this role, you will :

  • Advise and support the Senior RC/RC field manager (International), Operations manager (Domestic) on security related matters concerning all personnel and assets.
  • Monitor and analyze the security / political and socio-economic situation in the operational area and identify possible security related trends and issues that may affect operations. Report any changes and make appropriate recommendations to Ops Manager.
  • Guide and support security risk management process which includes conducting security assessments at field locations, creating, and maintaining security regulations/emergency procedures, undertaking site security assessments (as required) and providing recommendations for accommodations.
  • Support leadership in ensuring that the operation has valid and approved contingency and critical incident management plans and oversee the implementation of these, as required.
  • Support management in the review of all training or work experience of personnel.
  • Conducting pre-and post-mission briefings and debriefings for delegates and staff.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the implementation of MSRs to the head of operations and to the technical line management (i.e., IFRC Regional Security and CRC Sr Security Advisor).
  • Establish and maintain a security network of internal and external contacts and participate in relevant stakeholder meetings.
  • Identify and provide or arrange specific security related trainings: i.e.: radio communications [in coordination with IT], guard training [in coordination with supplier].
  • Establish and if needed mentor security focal point/security managers to build security management capability.

What we are looking for :

  • Undergraduate degree, or equivalent qualification from humanitarian security trainings military, police, or 5 years equivalent experience in security related field.
  • Fluency in English is required. French/Spanish/Arabic or any other official language are an asset.
  • Two years humanitarian field experience (domestic and/or international).
  • Experience in relationship-building, and the ability to effectively interface with external stakeholders including, government authorities, military, police and other NGOs would be an asset.
