The Power Line Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient construction, operation and maintenance of the distribution system, both overhead and underground; and for the safe and efficient operation and emergency maintenance of the transmission system within an allocated area.
Key functions include:
• Provide direction, oversight and on the job training to personnel and contractors on the job site and ensure that all Corporate Health & Safety rules are followed at all times to ensure the safety of employees and the public.
• Construct and maintain overhead and underground distribution systems; perform hotline, preventative and emergency maintenance work on the systems, respond to emergency power restoration which may involve the supervision of external/contracted personnel and perform emergency maintenance on the transmission system as required.
• Effectively coordinate work on the job site to ensure its cost effective, timely, completion. This includes minimizing down time by maintaining the line truck in adherence to the vehicle maintenance schedule, ensuring proper and sufficient materials are available to complete jobs and requesting and assisting other crews to complete work.
Our ideal teammate will have:
• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Power Line Technician CQ
• A valid Class 1E Driver's
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
