The Department of Transportation and Infrastructureâ??s mission is to contribute to New Brunswickâ??s economy and quality of life by providing and supporting sustainable infrastructure that allows for the safe and efficient movement of people, goods and government services to the public. Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.
The Vehicle Management Agencyâ??s mission is to provide fleet management and vehicle maintenance services to Government, on an economical basis and according to established standards, to enable clients to deliver quality services to the public. Our mechanics work on light fleet vehicles, school buses, plow trucks and heavy equipment. This work is vital to keep the Provinceâ??s fleet safely on the road.
What you will do
As a member of the Vehicle Management Agency, the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of automotive and related equipment.
Work environment:
- Location: Edmundston
- 40-hour work week, with variable hours, including evenings and weekends, when required.
- We promote a scent-reduced environment.
- Some travel within the region will be required.

Essential Qualifications:
- Possession of Journeyperson's certificates in the Automotive Service Technician (AST) and the Truck and Transport (T&T) trades as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
- Valid Class 5 driverâ??s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in French is required. Please state your language capability.
- Applicants must clearly demonstrate the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.

Should the Department be unsuccessful in finding candidates with the required certificate(s), the Department is prepared to accept one of the certificates and enter into an apprenticeship agreement with the employee to help them obtain the second certificate.

SALARY:
Mechanic (AST and T&T):
Journeypersonâ??s Certificates in AST and T&T: $29.17 per hour, based on a 40- hour week.
Mechanic (AST or T&T):
Journeypersonâ??s Certificate in AST or T&T: $28.03 per hour, based on a 40- hour week.
