ROLE PROFILE:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Emergency Response & Airside Services, the Manager, Airside Services is responsible for developing, testing and evaluating processes and procedures to optimize the airportâ??s operational status and preparedness to respond to any emergency or disaster at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport (HSIA).

The Manager, Airside Services provides work direction, coaching and support to the Supervisor-Trainer Airfield Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance Supervisor and positions within the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC). This position will also be integral in the maintenance of the Airport Emergency Plan, Emergency Operations Centre(s), the Mass Notification System and supporting the Operations departmentâ??s role in the Business Continuity Plan.

Flexibility with hours will be required to provide support to operational requirements, as well as critical incidents and events that occur outside of normal work hours.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A diploma or technical degree from a college or university in a related field is desirable, with a minimum of two (2) years of related experience or a minimum of (5) years of experience in airside operations and emergency management
  • Working knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations with respect to airside operations and emergency management, such as but not limited too; Canadian Aviation Regulations, TP312 4th & 5th editions, Incident Command System, etc.
  • Knowledge of training and development tools and techniques, with related experience
  • Fully conversant with MS Office software (Outlook and Word) including data management software; and
  • Excellent communication skills (oral & written) - English
  • Familiarity with air carrier operations will be considered an asset
  • Candidates must be in possession of a valid driverâ??s licence
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent judgment, initiative and superior organizational abilities
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to multi-task and keep track of multiple and competing priorities and deadlines
  • Candidate must demonstrate willingness to career learning and stay apprised of industry best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to define and implement procedures to deal with change
  • Demonstrated safety awareness
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to different audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic working relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
