Definition of Work:
This is a professional nursing position with responsibility to provide holistic care with a family centered approach to mothers and babies on the Women's and Children's Health Unit. This will include care of the antenatal client, labor & delivery, postpartum care, and newborn and pediatric care. As required, the successful candidate will float to other nursing units. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Two years nursing experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current Health Assessment certification or willingness to complete next available course.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) and a 20-hour breastfeeding course or willingness to complete.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
• Completion of 4 self-learning modules or willingness to complete in a timely manner.
• Willingness to participate in the MORE OB 3-year program.
• Consistent demonstration of NL Health Services corporate values; Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence (ICARE).
• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred qualifications:
• Nursing experience in Obstetrics.
