Job Summary
The Engineering Technician III is responsible for carrying out project supervision and administration of construction projects and supervising the workflow of Engineering Technician I's and II's in the division. The Engineering Technician III is a position that utilizes acquired knowledge of building instrumentation and automation, HVAC systems, building control systems as well as related codes, legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures.
The Technician compiles a comprehensive database of information that is loaded into Eastern Health's Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM). Activities include:
- Building equipment - inclusive of all technical requirements and information,
- Create, Modify, Reviews drawing to ensure master building drawings are current and in compliance with all necessary code requirements.
- Responsible for all aspects space/moves within a facility
- Utilizes acquired knowledge of building instrumentation and automation, HVAC systems, building control systems as well as related codes, legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Works to ensure maximum utilization of physical space resources using Eastern Health's Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM)
- Receives and manages all Space and Move requests and oversees scheduling, execution, vendor management, and setting up of required work requests to ensure space is occupiable and ready for employee use
- Assist Space Planning Committees and work with various departments as the main contact/coordinator for the planning and implementation of relocations, logistic moves, furniture reconfigurations, IT systems, and small to moderate sized renovations
- Supports and assists with the maintenance of a central database for space attributes/assignments, floor plans, space configurations, and room data
- This role is highly interactive with communication required with staff at varying levels
- Other related duties as required
- This position works closely with and under direction of the Regional Manager Quality Initiatives. Also interacts and communicates frequently with the Facility Management group
- This is a regional position; travel is required through all Eastern Health geographical footprint
Able to perform inspections/audits of work on moderate to large projects to ensure compliance.
Provides technical support on codes and standards issues and act as a designated coordinator for specific moderate to large sized projects (i.e. renovations), including interpreting codes, standards/regulations, assessing buildings, responding to questions, maintaining records, and preparing plans
Able to provide support on capital tenders, life safety and evacuation plans.
Works closely with and under direction of the Regional Manager Quality Initiatives. Also interacts and communicates frequently with the Facility Management group. Other related duties as required.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from approved/recognized three-year Engineering Technology Program.
Specialization in the Architectural discipline is an asset.
Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven years working as an Engineering Technologist is required.
Demonstrated strong computer skills
Experience Microsoft Office suite of programs.
Extensive experience using AutoCad to create, read and interpret drawings is required.
Ability to interpret and apply contracts, specifications, and relevant standards.
Ability to work independently.
Basic knowledge of building equipment.
Construction knowledge
Knowledge of building instrumentation and building automation systems.
Knowledge of building Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems.
Knowledge of electrical and or mechanical systems used in institutional building construction and operation.
Demonstrated time management skills, ability to prioritize and meet critical timelines within budget.
Demonstrated advanced communication and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to recognize hazards and to work safely around building equipment.
Demonstrated problem solving skills.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required
Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
