The Network Planner (RF Design) will be responsible for planning and engineering our HFC network for the latest RF technology, for Headend and Node upgrades to support 1.2 and 1.8 GHz outside plant networks, and designing our network to meet the latest DOCSIS specifications. This position will also require participation in the transition to DAA and PON technologies.
Key responsibilities:
- Headend RF planning and design
- HFC access network design (Full spectrum DWDM design, reverse daisy-chain break up designs, node and laser split design, RMD and RPD)
- Develop headend documentation standards for RF and PON
- Develop headend design standards to support future I-CMTS, DAA, and PON requirements
- Support operational teams with new technologies
- Evaluate and recommend headend equipment
- Plan new headend RF builds and moves
- Head end CMTS and Video upgrade designs
- Manage projects and budgets
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience in Network Planning or RF Design or technical degree/diploma with minimum 5 years of experience in the field
- Familiarity with RF and DOCSIS Specifications is an asset
- Experience with Fiber roll-out or PON deployment is an asset
- Ability to research, understand, and an apply findings when completing a design or troubleshooting issues
