Your Impact as Communications Advisor
Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Communications, the Communications Advisor plays a key role in ensuring stakeholders are engaged, informed, and inspired in alignment with PVSC's strategic plan, mission, and vision.
The Communications Advisor works with all levels of the organization to gain an in-depth understanding of strategy, business, and culture. They are an effective relationship builder, creative communicator, and engaging collaborator. This position understands that the work they do impacts how PVSC achieves it goals and grows its business.
How You Will Contribute
- Assists in the development of stakeholder relations and communication plans, aligned with PVSC's corporate strategy;
- Prepares key communications, including presentations, core messages, status updates, newsletters, reports, letters, corporate decisions, and program material for different audiences;
- Reviews and edits material prepared by other individuals and business units ensuring clear, concise, and accurate information and appropriate expression of PVSC's character;
- Plans and coordinates staff and Board of Director events, including meetings, agendas, logistics, speakers, activities, etc;
- Supports the facilitation of staff engagement sessions and trainings;
- Coordinates PVSC's award programs and recognition initiatives;
- Develops and distributes staff surveys, evaluates survey results, and summarizes results for different audiences;
- Researches, develops, and reinforces tactics and activities that support successful remote work;
- Supports recruitment efforts and onboarding activities;
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to provide creative solutions to communication initiatives;
- Assists, as required, with stakeholder relations and communications;
- Performs other related duties as required.
What You Bring
- You will possess a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, or a similar discipline;
- Minimum of 1 years' experience in a similar role; (or the equivalent combination of training and experience).
You will also have the following skills or experience:
- Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills with strong writing and editorial abilities;
- Strong organizational and prioritizing skills;
- Maintains a creative and innovative mindset;
- Takes initiative to see tasks through to completion, meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Maintains high attention to detail and accuracy;
- Illustrated experience in developing and maintaining positive professional relationships with stakeholders and working effectively with all levels of staff;
- Ability to absorb new ideas and concepts quickly and clearly communicate them to different audiences;
- Willingness and ability to adjust to changing conditions and priorities;
- Demonstrated enthusiasm, positive attitude, and commitment to teamwork;
- Proven experience using Microsoft365 tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Teams, Stream, etc., and online public relations tools such as Venngage, Survey Monkey, etc;
- Maintains working knowledge of the principles of effective communications and stakeholder relations.

- Experience or training in change management.
Special Requirements
- This role requires occasional travel throughout the province and requires a valid Class 5 driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
