The University of Fredericton seeks a dynamic Academic Chair for its business programs. This role focuses on the day-to-day management of academic programs, including curriculum implementation, faculty coordination, advisory committee engagements, quality assurance reviews, and research. The Academic Chair will have teaching responsibilities, enriching the academic experience with their expertise and ensuring relevant, cutting-edge content is delivered throughout the learning experience. This position emphasizes operational excellence, quality education delivery, and direct engagement with students and faculty.
Academic Leadership:
- Lead the development and launch of innovative academic business programs.
- Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of academic programs.
- Review and monitor the quality, rigour, and completeness of courses within the curriculum and implement improvements.
- Ensure compliance with academic accreditation requirements and university policies.
- Ability to teach multiple courses in business and a range of curricula at the bachelor's level.
Administrative Functions:
- Provide input into the program's annual budget and assist in financial planning.
- Support the Dean in the recruitment and orientation of new faculty members.
- Collaborate with industry partners and other academic institutions to promote research collaborations and experiential learning opportunities for students.
- Represent the University of Fredericton at external functions and participate in university committees as appropriate.
- Plan for faculty staffing needs and workload distribution, making recommendations to the Dean.
- Support the deployment of new processes or formats and recommend policy changes if required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.

- Demonstrated leadership and ability to present information effectively to various stakeholders.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient knowledge of university operations and trends in education.
- Understanding of curriculum development and program assessment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented, deadline-driven culture.
- MBA or a closely related degree. A Terminal degree in Business is preferred.
- Teaching experience of a minimum of 5 years in higher education preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive work experience in administration/management in higher education.
- Experience in planning, organizing, and managing processes to achieve successful deliverables.
- Involvement in department or institution-level policy creation, management, or curriculum development.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in technology use for academic and administrative purposes.

Hours of Work
This is a fulltime permanent position (35 hours) under regular business hours. The position is located in Fredericton, NB with the possibility to work remotely from anywhere in New Brunswick, and attend in-office meetings, as required. The ideal candidate should reside in New Brunswick or is willing to relocate.
