We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Accountant to join our Accounting team in our Halifax office overlooking the beautiful downtown waterfront. Whether you're an experienced professional or building your career, we're open to candidates at various levels of expertise.

Reporting to the Manager, Project Accounting, the Project Accountant will work closely with other project accountants and finance professionals within our accounting group. You will work collaboratively to provide information and support to project managers for invoicing and reporting. Our accounting team works to provide exceptional client service to approximately 500 employees across our locations in Atlantic Canada and Ontario.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Creation of new projects into Vantagepoint, and review existing project prior to use;
  • Ensure accounting records are up to date with client information;
  • Financial management of a portfolio of projects, including inputting and verifying data into the accounting system to ensure accuracy of invoices;
  • Collaborate with project managers to generate, finalize and issue final invoices and send them to clients via mail or email;
  • Build strong relationships with project managers by providing monthly paperwork ensuring accurate project reporting;
  • Leverage your attention to detail to review client agreements and ensure project budgets are accurate; and
  • Provide excellent customer service and accounting support to project managers regarding invoicing, project set up, and budget adjustments.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Post secondary diploma in the business/accounting field or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field;
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines;
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Excel, intermediate level understanding preferred;
  • Ability to build and foster excellent working relationships;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; and
  • Experience with Vantagepoint application considered an asset.
