The Opportunity:

We are seeking a visionary Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineering Lead to join our Generative AI and Automation Centre of Excellence (COE). In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the design, development, and lifecycle management of cutting-edge AI solutions. Collaborating with diverse teams, including peers, business stakeholders, and technical counterparts, you will assess project requirements, define strategies, and deliver innovative, high-impact solutions aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Collaboration and Solution Design:
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to define technical specifications and requirements for AI solutions.
- Transition technical specifications into detailed designs, ensuring alignment with departmental engineering standards and methodologies.
- Troubleshoot issues, investigate defects, and propose effective solutions to technical challenges.
- Estimate effort for projects, particularly small to medium-sized ones, and manage tasks to completion.
Implementation and Integration of AI Solutions:
- Enhance existing systems and develop new features to meet evolving project requirements.
- Support the integration of AI tools, models, and workflows into larger systems and ensure they align with overall architectural goals.
- Document and maintain software architecture artifacts related to AI solutions.
- Plan, execute, and oversee testing phases to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions.
Knowledge Sharing and Team Support:
- Participate in code reviews to ensure high standards of quality and foster continuous learning within the team.
- Provide technical guidance to team members, offering insights and support on AI-related tasks.
- Effectively communicate product changes and updates to relevant stakeholders.
Innovation and Industry Awareness:
- Stay informed about key trends and advancements in AI and machine learning.
- Contribute to product roadmaps, ensuring they remain forward-looking and responsive to industry developments.
- Anticipate challenges and proactively plan solutions to address potential obstacles.
Key Communication Channels:
- Internal: Collaborate with IT Shared Services, business representatives, and other technical teams to ensure smooth project execution and knowledge exchange.
- External: Engage with vendors and solution providers as needed to support project goals and the adoption of new tools or technologies.
Required Qualifications:
Education: A degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in software design and development, with a focus on end-to-end systems.
- 4+ years of experience with Java RESTful services, Spring Framework, database technologies (e.g., Oracle, MySQL), CI/CD pipelines, and user interface frameworks.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in AI and machine learning.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) and services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
- Experience with Git/GitFlow, JUnit, containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), front-end frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, Vue), and scripting (e.g., Shell Scripting).
- Familiarity with AI tooling, such as Azure AI Studio.
- Proficiency in object-oriented design and analysis.
- Familiarity with Agile development practices such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into secure, scalable code.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Languages: Proficiency in English (written and spoken). French proficiency is considered an asset.
Working Arrangements:
- Flexible work arrangement: hybrid, remote, or office-based, depending on the candidate's location within the Eastern & Atlantic Time Zone areas (ON, NB, NS, PE, NL)
