What you will do
Reporting to the Senior Resident Engineer or Regional Asphalt Technician, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following responsibilities:
- testing and reporting for end results specification paving contracts to ensure quality assurance;
- operating, maintaining and inspecting quality assurance lab and lab equipment;
- working on the investigative core crew, supporting Design Branch with field pickups and design calculations, research, and performance testing.
Work environment:
- Office location: Bathurst, Edmundston, Fredericton or Moncton District offices. Please ensure that your application indicates the preferred work location for which you wish to be considered.
- Asphalt Lab: dusty, warm, noisy testing environment.
- Standard hours of work: Monday â?? Friday.
- Overtime may be required.

- Some travel within the province will be required.

Essential Qualifications:
Engineering and Field VI:
- Diploma from a recognized two (2) year post-secondary Civil Engineering Technology Program with a minimum of five (5) yearsâ?? related work experience.
- Must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite;
- Valid Class 5 driverâ??s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
If there are no applicants with the above essential qualifications, we may consider applicants with the following qualifications and appoint at a lower classification.
Engineering and Field V:
- Diploma from a recognized two (2) year post-secondary Civil Engineering Technology Program with a minimum of four (4) yearsâ?? related work experience.
- Must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Class 5 driverâ??s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
Engineering and Field IV:
- Diploma from a recognized two (2) year post-secondary Civil Engineering Technology Program with a minimum of three (3) yearsâ?? related work experience.
- Must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Class 5 driverâ??s license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:
- certification in NBDTIâ??s Quality Control / Quality Assurance Technician Certification;
- asphalt testing experience.
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY:
Engineering and Field Level VI: $2,126.00 to $2,671.00 bi-weekly, based on a 36.25 hour per work week.
Engineering and Field Level V: $1,935.00 to $2,434.00 bi-weekly, based on a 36.25 hour work week.
Engineering and Field Level IV: $1,763.00 to $2,211.00 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hour work week.
